Abstract:
The study aims to investigate the effect of Pilates training on the Body composition (Percentage body fat, BMI, Fat-free mass, Skeletal Muscle Mass) of male volleyball players. The research includes thirty recreationally active volleyball players from the various Departments of the Central University of Punjab as subjects. The subjects were randomly assigned to two equal groups of 15 each. A random sampling technique was employed for the study, as it is most appropriate. An experimental research design was used in the study. The ages of the subjects ranged from 18 to 25 years. Group I was undergoing Pilates training, while Group II acted as the control. ANCOVA was used to determine the significant difference existing between pre-test and post-test on body composition variables. The result of the study proved that the effect of Pilates training improved the body composition (Percentage body fat, BMI, Fat-free mass, Skeletal Muscle Mass) of male volleyball players.
